Current Issues and Non-Profit Organizations

Discuss for 10 minutes:

  • Which challenge do you think is the most critical to the nonprofit’s success?

  • What factors might be contributing to this challenge (e.g., leadership, motivation, communication, structure)?

Presentation to Class:

  • Each group takes one minute to present their findings to the class.  

Group 1- Emerson Avenue Community Garden: Current Issues

  • Limited availability of volunteers due to other personal commitments
  • Uneven workload distribution
  • Volunteer Burnout
  • Difficulty in reaching a broader audience for their volunteer base
  • Lack of resources to support volunteers and their scheduling

  • Better work flow and determined work processes needed
  • Priority on safety needed (better-maintained equipment and tools)
