The Other Side
The Other Side is an experimental documentary that reimagines how cinema can represent mental health narratives. Through raw, unscripted interviews, the film explores the inner worlds of four young individuals—Shibani, Shuvro, Saifi, and Ali—as they share personal stories of grief, pressure, identity, and survival in a society that often punishes difference and silence. Interwoven with these testimonies are lyrical sequences that break away from traditional documentary form, offering a poetic glimpse into each character’s emotional landscape. These visual interludes blur the line between documentary and expressive cinema. The Other Side tackles themes such as gender norms, academic and social pressure, familial expectations, grief, bullying, and generational trauma. It challenges the stigma surrounding mental health and urges viewers to recognize their emotional realities--and to seek help without shame.
