Tip: Try Subject Headings

Subject headings are the 2nd major way (after call numbers) that books are categorized in an academic library. They provide a uniform way of specifying a book is about.

All books in the library catalog have 1+ Library of Congress Subject Headings assigned to them. Click on the linked subject headings in the catalog to find more resources on that topic. This is what they'll look like in the library catalog:

Where in the Library?

If you're looking for a physical book in W. H. Hannon Library, you'll see that the books are arranged by topic, according to the Library of Congress Classification System. Most of the books related to yoga studies are in the call number ranges below. Some are located in the 1st floor Reference Section.

Two-thirds of the library's books are in basement storage, so check LINUS, the library catalog, if you don't see what you need.

Looking for an e-Book?

You can search the library's collection for just e-books. This is a good option if you are off campus and can't make a trip to the physical library.

Step 1:

Go to the library catalog's advanced search.

Step 2:

Enter your keyword(s) in the search box.

Step 3:

Click on "E-BOOK" in the Material Type box, and click Submit to search.
