About Citation Managers

Citation managers are tools that allow you to:

  • Import citation information from a variety of sources
    (including article databases)
  • Collect, organize, and manage citations
  • Generate bibliographies and in-text citations in many different formats

Choosing a Citation Manager:

For the LMU community, EndNote is available on the intranet.

EndNote Web
is available for students, faculty, and staff through the library's subscription to Web of Science.

As an alternative, Zotero is a free, open-source, web-based manager that can be downloaded as a Firefox extension.

In addition, there are a number of other citation managers that are available for purchase, such as RefWorks.

To compare the various features of these tools, see the chart to the right.
