Analyses are based mainly on statistics from international and national statistical agencies. The report covers several broad policy areas--population and families, health, education, work, power and decision-making, violence against women, environment and poverty.
Illustrated with colourful maps, graphs, vignettes and tables, Women: A World Survey is an easy-to-consult handbook with statistics, concise narrative, and analysis of the situation of women with respect to the following areas: work, education, health, legal rights, and political power. A statistical annex looks at national profiles, historical trends (1950-1995), and gender comparisons (1960 versus 1995) for 139 countries.
