Finding Books Activities

  • Conduct group literature reviews covering different time periods of the same topic. Combine knowledge during a "research roundtable"
  • Keep a research log (document how topics evolve as you find information)
  • Citation chase a book or article in the course discipline
  • Fact check or find facts to support an editorial article
  • Locate and evaluate reviews of books in the discipline
  • Use the Finding Books worksheet to determine the best book on a topic in the discipline
  • Start a discussion about the relevance of books in your discipline. Have each student find a book on a relevant topic and read a review about that book. What does this add to the scholarly conversation on that topic?
  • Have students include citations in all discussion posts
